Tips for Juicing

I use all organic veggies and fruits however you if can't use all organic don't sweat it and do not let it stop you from the benefits of juicing..

  • Wash all produce some people use a fruit a veggie wash I do not, I am cheap LOL so i use organic soap and rinse well
  • Use organic whenever you can for the purest juice
  • Oranges, grapefruits and tangerines peel these before juicing the peel will make your juice taste bitter and also it can give digestive issues, make sure you leave as much of the white part as possible when peeling since it has most of your Vit. C you can leave the peel of lemons and limes if they are organic. I would also suggest to peel all produce that is not organic the peel has a large amount of  nutrients but sprayed produce peel and skins have pesticides.
  • Remove pits and stones from fruits, Cherry, mango, apricot peaches etc, oranges , melons and apples can be juiced with the seeds
  • Don't juice carrot or rhubarb greens remove and discard them, they carry toxins.
  • I do not put these fruits in my juicer, they have littler water content and I am wasting my fruit juicing it instead i run them through i blender with filtered or coconut water. I really like coco water I use it alot in smoothies. Mango, papaya, avocado, banana and cantaloupe (i don't juice cantaloupe instead i blend it with coco water its very yummy)
  • Juice can spoil quickly so it will not keep over 24 hours, some people freeze their juice I however do not I prefer juicing fresh because the longer a juice sits it looses nutrients.
  • also in your juicers catch bin I put a produce plastic bag in it to catch the pulp, I feed the pulp to my daughters rabbits unless its carrot pulp than i make a salad out of this pulp.
  • You should drink for nutritional value 4 quarts of juice per day, 2lbs of that being green leafy and one head of celery. The recipes that I share I drink more than one glass daily, but I give the recipe per glass. I juice as I drink the longer juice sits it loose nutritional value, however if need be juice what you need when you are away from the house and store it in air tight container.  Sometimes I drink 4 quarts and sometimes I don't I only drink when I feel hungry so If i only drank 3 quarts and I am no longer getting the hunger urge I don't force my body to take the extra quart
  • I really do not take supplements I will drink rejuvelac, coconut water or organic tea . I always take in 2 oz of wheatgrass juice a day. I buy this in a package  at Whole Foods it comes in 16 1 oz shots per package. My juicer cannot juice wheatgrass
  • Warning on celery, celery should be consumed when it is firm. Never consume celery that is 3 weeks old or that is limp. I read in a book that old celery fed to animals increased cancer risk.. So buy celery fresh and use it before it gets limp
Choosing a juicer
Choose a juicer that fits you one with not many parts for easy cleaning. Juicers do not have to be expensive eBay and Craigslist or good places to find juicers at good prices. If you have no funds for a juicer not a big deal use your blender and a cheesecloth to strain or just make smoothies if you don't want to strain the fluid..

Choosing your fruits
Choose whats on sale and what is fresh, I do not buy my fruits and veggies from chain grocers most of these grocers do not buy our local produce and support our local farmers, so I choose to buy my produce from local farmers markets and local markets that buy produce locally.
